Health Minister Inspects Key Projects at Madinah’s King Salman Medical City, Boosts Vision 2030 Healthcare Goals

Health Minister and Health Holding Company Board of Directors Chairman Fahad AlJalajel recently toured several health projects at King Salman bin Abdulaziz Medical City in Madinah. Spearheaded by the Madinah Health Cluster, the projects aim to enhance healthcare quality and accessibility for all in the region, aligning with the Health Sector Transformation Program and Saudi Vision 2030.
AlJalajel’s tour included the medical city’s placenta previa treatment center, a specialized facility within the women’s health track of the Saudi Model of Care. The center supports C-sections performed in the interventional radiology department and offers uterine arterial embolization to minimize complications and enhance safety for mothers and newborns.
The minister also reviewed the upgraded emergency departments at the medical city’s main hospital and Maternity and Children’s Hospital, where a boosted bed capacity of 101, a new 12-bed rapid triage area, an activated case management system, and expanded waiting rooms all contribute to a better patient experience and increased departmental readiness.
AlJalajel visited the interventional radiology department, which has undergone a 200% expansion with the addition of two cutting-edge devices, improving diagnostic efficiency, treatment outcomes, and reducing the need for surgical interventions.
The visit also covered the diabetic foot treatment center, which provides comprehensive preventive and therapeutic services using advanced technologies to improve quality of life and reduce complications.
AlJalajel also stopped at the hemodialysis center, a collaborative effort with the Abdullah Alrajhi Foundation. This state-of-the-art facility features 10 beds, including isolation and respiratory rooms, and is equipped to the highest standards.
In a move to bolster emergency response capabilities, the minister was briefed on the second phase of air evacuation landing strips within the Madinah Health Cluster hospitals. This phase adds seven landing strips across the medical city, Al-Haram Hospital, and other governorate hospitals, bringing the total to 15 under the cluster’s umbrella.
