Al Gharafa coach Pedro Martins and Umm Salal coach Patrice Carteron addressed the media ahead of their highly anticipated Week 1 clash in the 2025–2026 Doha Bank Stars League, scheduled to take place this Friday. Both coaches expressed optimism, determination, and a clear sense of ambition ahead of the new league campaign.

Al Gharafa coach Pedro Martins stated: “Our pre-season preparations went very well. The team’s technical level was positive, and we feel ready to face Umm Salal in the opening match. The players are motivated, and our aspirations for the new season are high.”

He continued: “With the increased number of foreign professionals in the league, I expect the competition to be more intense and exciting this season. It will demand a higher level of tactical preparation and physical effort from all teams and coaching staff.”

Martins affirmed that his team is entering the season with strong ambitions: “We want to perform better than last season, and that’s our top priority. Winning another title is what we are fighting for. The goal is clear — to challenge for the league title — and we are fully committed to achieving it.”

On the other side, Umm Salal coach Patrice Carteron expressed his belief in the potential of his team, stating: “We are confident in the approach we have taken. What matters most is having a well-structured plan and the ambition to achieve progress this season. The players are showing commitment, and we are ready to compete.”

Commenting on the challenge of facing Al Gharafa, Carteron acknowledged: “They are a strong and well-organized team with players of high quality. But in football, surprises always happen. We have nothing to lose, and we will play with a positive mindset while showing respect for our opponents.”

He also emphasized the growing competitiveness of the league, noting: “The presence of a large number of professional players across all teams will increase the difficulty of every match. Each game will present significant challenges, and consistency will be key for any team aspiring to compete for top positions.”

With both coaches setting the tone for an exciting start to the new season, fans can expect a competitive and spirited encounter when Al Gharafa and Umm Salal meet in the opening round of the 2025–2026 Doha Bank Stars League
