British Showjumping honours Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza for outstanding contribution to sport

British Showjumping has honoured Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, and Chairwoman of both the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club and Al Ain Ladies Club, for her exceptional contributions to the sport of showjumping in the United Kingdom and beyond.

Sheikha Fatima, who is also the founder and owner of Al Shira’aa Arabians, has been a major supporter of equestrian sports development both locally and internationally. The award celebrates her strategic vision and tireless dedication to fostering the next generation of riders and horses in the sport, as well as her active role in promoting Emirati presence on the world stage.

The prestigious award was presented during the CSIO5 King George V Gold Cup*, one of the most revered events in the showjumping calendar, held at the iconic Hickstead Arena — now an integral part of the Al Shira’aa Tour. The presentation ceremony was led by Lizzie and Edward Bunn, Directors of Hickstead, with the award received on behalf of Sheikha Fatima by Mohamed Ahmed Al Harbi, her official representative, and Khaula Al Nuaimi, Head of Protocol for Sheikha Fatima.

Leadership in Equestrian Excellence

As a passionate advocate for equestrian sport, Sheikha Fatima’s influence extends far beyond competition, encompassing horse breeding, rider development, and strategic sponsorships. Her base in the UK has enabled a deeper connection with the European breeding scene, where she actively supports the AES studbook and contributes to the education and development of young horses and riders alike.

Her efforts have significantly advanced British breeding programmes, particularly through the development of elite stallions and structured support for young talent. Under her guidance, Al Shira’aa has become a global symbol of excellence in showjumping—organising premier events, nurturing homegrown Emirati riders, and forging powerful partnerships across the global equestrian ecosystem.

“It is an honour to be recognised by British Showjumping. Our mission with Al Shira’aa has always been to elevate the sport and support riders in reaching their highest potential, wherever in the world they may be,” said Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza in a statement.

UAE Riders Shine in King George V Gold Cup

The recognition coincided with an outstanding performance by the Al Shira’aa team during the King George V Gold Cup class.

  • Omar Al Marzooqi, riding Enjoy De La Mure, secured a brilliant second place finish, delivering an effortless double clear just 0.86 seconds behind the winner.
  • Abdulla Al Marri, on BBS McGreggor, also impressed with a sixth place finish, showcasing the strength and depth of talent within the Al Shira’aa stables.

The Al Shira’aa Tour continues its international schedule, returning to Hickstead for the Al Shira’aa Young Horse Championships, a vital platform for emerging equestrian stars. It will then move on to Germany for the CSI4 Turnier der Sieger*, set against the scenic backdrop of Munster Castle, from 21–24 August.

This award and the continuing success of Al Shira’aa further highlight the UAE’s growing influence and leadership in the global equestrian landscape, led by the vision and commitment of Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza.\
