MBRF Launches ‘Knowledge Lounge’ in Canada to Promote Arabic Language Globally

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) has launched its ‘Knowledge Lounge’ initiative in Canada, continuing its mission to promote Arabic reading and foster sustainable knowledge development on a global scale.

The initiative seeks to encourage critical and analytical thinking within diverse communities, offering an open platform for dialogue and cultural exchange.

Inaugural Session Held in Toronto

The inaugural session took place in Toronto in collaboration with the Mosaic Foundation, featuring Hussein Darwish from the Dubai International Program for Writing and Hind Zareef, Director of the Mosaic Foundation.

Darwish highlighted that the Knowledge Lounge provides a space for discussion between readers, writers, and experts, rooted in the belief that knowledge is a cornerstone of individual and societal growth.

Zareef commended the partnership, calling it a significant step in elevating the global presence of the Arabic language, while fostering meaningful cultural and intellectual engagement.

Global Expansion Efforts

This launch follows earlier international expansions of the initiative to Sydney and Melbourne in March 2025, in cooperation with the UAE Federal Youth Foundation and the Global Youth Council in Australia.

Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, noted that the expansion is aligned with the Foundation’s goal to connect Arabic readers worldwide and strengthen the Arabic language’s role in global discourse. He added that the initiative promotes knowledge sustainability and supports the creation of knowledge-based, creative societies.

Nationwide and International Events in July

Throughout July, the Knowledge Lounge is hosting various sessions across the UAE, including:

  • Workshops at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library in Dubai
  • Literary discussions in Abu Dhabi, Khor Fakkan, Al Ain, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah
  • Youth-focused events in partnership with the Al-Naqsh platform and the Dubai International Program for Writing

Additional sessions are held in collaboration with the Digital Knowledge Center, tackling topics such as digital transformation and cosmology.

On the international stage, a session in Australia will explore the book “Soft Power: Volunteer Work and Humanitarian Giving Following Zayed’s Footsteps” by Adel Al Shamry.

Building Bridges Through Knowledge

As it continues to grow, the Knowledge Lounge serves as a global platform for promoting reading, cultural exchange, and intellectual dialogue, strengthening the presence of Arabic language and culture worldwide.
