Dubai, UAE –– A routine delivery turned into a dramatic battle for survival at International Modern Hospital, Bur Dubai, when an expectant mother suffered a rare and life-threatening obstetric emergency—Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE). However, the complications didn’t end there. Post-surgery, further tests revealed a rectus sheath hematoma—internal bleeding in the abdominal muscles caused by DIC. Rather than resorting to another high-risk surgery, the hospital’s interventional radiology team performed a minimally invasive embolization, successfully stopping the bleeding.
